Question 1

What warranty do Hyundai products come with?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai power equipment sold through Trade Tested is backed by up to a 3 year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal domestic use. Warranty terms may vary by product — check the product listing or manual for specifics. Using unapproved replacement parts or skipping scheduled maintenance may void the warranty. Claims are handled directly by Trade Tested — contact support@tradetested.co.nz or call 0800 800 880.

Question 2

What fuel do Hyundai petrol products use?

Accepted Answer

Most Hyundai petrol products use straight unleaded petrol with Hyundai OHV 4-stroke engines — do not use ethanol-blended fuels (E10 etc.). The 2-stroke products are the HYMT5080 Garden Tool Pro Multi 5-in-1 (51cc) and the HYEA5080 Post Hole Borer (51cc) — both run on a 40:1 semi-synthetic 2-stroke oil + unleaded petrol mix. The HYEA5080 needs a richer 25:1 mix on first use only (to lubricate engine components during break-in), then 40:1 from then on. Always use fresh fuel (minimum 91 octane unleaded) and drain the tank if storing the product for more than 30 days.

Question 3

How do I choose the right Hyundai lawnmower?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai lawnmowers range from the 320mm corded electric (small lawns, no fuel or oil needed) to the 510mm zero-turn self-propelled with electric start (large lawns up to 1,000m²). The 400mm 79cc is the best-selling entry-level petrol mower. For medium lawns, the 460mm self-propelled saves effort on slopes. For large lawns, the 510mm models offer the widest cut and self-propelled drive.

Question 4

What maintenance does a Hyundai generator need?

Accepted Answer

Check engine oil level before every use. Change oil after the first 20 hours (break-in period), then every 50–100 hours depending on load. Clean or replace the air filter every 50 hours. Inspect and clean the spark plug every 100 hours, replace every 200 hours. Check valve clearances every 300 hours. Always allow the engine to cool before performing maintenance.

Question 5

What's the difference between a jet pump, submersible pump, and pool pump?

Accepted Answer

Jet pumps (HYPJP range) are surface-mounted and draw water from bores, wells, or tanks — ideal for household water supply. Submersible pumps (HYPSM/HYPSMD range) sit underwater and are designed for drainage, flooding, or dirty water removal. Pool pumps (HYPSP range) are purpose-built for swimming pool and spa circulation and filtration. The electronic pressure controller (HYPC01B) can be added to jet pumps for automatic on/off operation.

Question 6

What can I use a Hyundai air compressor for?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai silent air compressors are oil-free and low noise, suitable for home workshops and garages. Common uses include inflating tyres and inflatables, powering nail guns and staple guns, spray painting, and running air tools. The 5-piece air tool kit (HY5AIR) includes common attachments. Match the tank size to your usage — 8L for light inflation, 24–30L for occasional air tools, 50–100L for sustained use.

Question 7

Are replacement parts available for Hyundai products?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Common replacement parts like lawnmower blades, chipper blades, trimmer spools, and chainsaw chains are available directly from Trade Tested. For other parts, Hyundai manuals include full exploded parts diagrams with numbered components — contact support@tradetested.co.nz with your model number and the part reference. Only use approved replacement parts to maintain your warranty.

Question 8

What's the difference between electric and petrol water blasters?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai's electric water blasters (1700W, 1900W, 2500W) are lighter, quieter, and require no fuel — ideal for home driveways, cars, and decks. They plug into a standard power outlet. Higher wattage models include more accessories (foam cannons, turbo nozzles) and integrated hose reels. Petrol water blasters offer more power for commercial or heavy-duty use but are heavier and louder.

Question 9

How do I choose the right Hyundai generator?

Accepted Answer

For portable backup power (camping, home emergencies), the 5000W diesel silenced generator covers most household needs. For permanent standby power, diesel standby generators range from 22kVA (small business/farm) to 110kVA (large commercial). Match the kVA rating to your total connected load — allow 20% headroom for motor startup surges. All standby generators are 3-phase and require professional installation.

Question 10

Who distributes Hyundai Power Equipment in New Zealand?

Accepted Answer

Hyundai Power Equipment is licensed by Hyundai Corporation Holdings, Korea, and imported and distributed exclusively in New Zealand by Trade Tested Limited. For sales, support, warranty claims, and parts, contact Trade Tested at 0800 800 880 or support@tradetested.co.nz.

Question 11

What is the Hyundai Lawn Scarifier Aerator?

Accepted Answer

The HYSC210 is a 2-in-1 petrol scarifier and aerator with a 400mm working width and 212cc engine. It removes thatch (dead grass buildup) and aerates compacted soil to promote healthy lawn growth. One of Hyundai's most popular products with NZ customers. Recommended for use in early spring or autumn for best results.

Question 12

What is the Hyundai 5in1 Multi Tool?

Accepted Answer

The HYMT5080 is one of Hyundai's best-selling products in NZ. It's a 51cc petrol multi-tool that converts between 5 functions: line trimmer, brush cutter, hedge trimmer, chainsaw, and extension pole pruner. Ideal for property maintenance without buying 5 separate tools. Replacement trimmer spools and chainsaw chains are available from Trade Tested.
